Weekly Reflection:

This week’s readings and discussions profoundly resonated with me, particularly the themes of focus and priorities articulated by Dallin Oaks and illustrated in the various video content we engaged with. Dallin Oaks emphasizes the importance of prioritizing our life goals, which feels incredibly relevant given the numerous distractions we face today. He argues that our choices define us and that concentrating on what truly matters can lead to a more fulfilling life. For example, he highlights the need to differentiate between urgent and important tasks, which I often struggle with. I frequently find myself swept up in the whirlwind of daily responsibilities, occasionally diverting me from my long-term goals.  This reminded me of a personal experience when I decided to limit my social media use to create more time for studying. The clarity and productivity I experienced during that period were remarkable, reinforcing Oaks' idea that prioritizing our time can lead to better outcomes.

The discussion about technology's impact on our attention spans resonated with my insights. It prompted me to reflect on how much time I spend mindlessly scrolling instead of engaging in activities that enrich my mind and spirit. The video encourages us to reclaim our focus, which I find both challenging and stimulating, liberating.  This week has been a significant exploration of focus and priorities. Oaks' insights, engaging video content, and rich classroom discussions have reinforced the importance of intentional living. Moving forward, I'm inspired to be more deliberate about investing my time and energy. I plan to create a personal action plan that includes regular reflections on my priorities, ensuring I remain aligned with my long-term goals. This week has been about understanding concepts, personal growth, and the commitment to live with greater intention.
